Purpose

1.       The purpose of this UPPS is to outline the procedures used in assigning lockers at Jowers Center to all faculty, staff, community members, and students at Texas State University-San Marcos.

Procedures for Locker Management

2.      Lockers and Laundry Services

2.01          Lockers, depending on availability, laundry services, and Physical Fitness and Wellness (PFW) uniforms are available to Texas State faculty, staff, and students as well as community members (i.e., non-Texas State employees) participating in a program sponsored by the Health Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) Department.

2.02          For a fee, individuals will receive a full-size locker, a lock, a box locker for uniform and towel exchange, a PFW uniform (e.g., t-shirts, shorts, socks, towels, jocks, wrestling uniforms, fencing jackets, and karate and judo ghis), fresh towels as needed, and laundry services.

3.      Locker and Laundry Fees

3.01          Faculty, staff, and students (not enrolled in Physical Education (PE) and PFW courses may obtain a locker and receive laundry services by paying a fee of $50.00 for a twelve month period or $20.00 each long semester and $20.00 for the summer.

3.02          Students enrolled in PE/PFW courses that require students to wear a PFW uniform do not have to pay the above mentioned fee.

3.03          HPER staff will issue receipts for payment of rental fees for uniforms and lockers.

3.04          Faculty, staff or community members wishing to retain the same locker for another year must pay the required yearly fee of $50. Yearly assignments are effective from September 1 through August 31 of each year.

3.05          Faculty, staff and community members paying for a locker on a semester or yearly basis are charged the full amount for that semester or year regardless of when they are assigned a locker.Lockers and laundry services are available to the HPER Department faculty and staff members at no cost.

3.06          HPER laundry personnel will collect replacement costs for lost articles of clothing and locks prior to issuing replacements.

3.07          HPER laundry personnel will handle refunds in excess of $5 that involve lost clothing articles and locks that are found at a later date. HPER laundry personnel will not issue refunds on any item valued at less than $5.

3.08          No refunds will be made if the faculty/staff member leaves the University or the community member drops out of a program offered by the Department of HPER.

3.09          Any lock other than those issued by the locker room attendant will be removed only after a notice has been placed on the locker for a minimum of twenty-four hours.

4.      HPER Laundry Personnel

4.01          The Chair of the HPER Department will employ HPER laundry personnel.

4.02          HPER laundry personnel will issue all locks.

4.03          HPER laundry personnel will process all laundry.

4.04          HPER laundry personnel will assign lockers in the faculty, staff and community member dressing area and collect the appropriate fees for all faculty, staff and community members.

4.05          HPER laundry personnel will assign lockers to students and collect the appropriate fees from students who are not in PE or PFW classes and wish to obtain lockers.

5.      Depositing Money

5.01          Any money collected is deposited in the Laundry, Lockers, and Fees account.
